Looking for some distros that use an alternative desktop environment (NOT gnome, xfce, or kde). Also, they must be LiveCD. I would prefer that they are both livecd AND install, but it has to be live.

As far as I know, DSL uses Fluxbox, which is not a Desktop Environment on its own, as the original poster wished. The same (perhaps with other window managers) could probably go to the other distros mentioned here.

Fair comment, although I'll let the OP clarify what is being asked for. Mezzo (with Symphony) I believe is a DE not just a WM.

I forgot to mention. Big Linux uses the brazilian TDE (http://tde.codigolivre.com.br) as desktop environment (with KDE as an option).

i don't really care about the distinction between desktop environments vs windows managers. give me both, thanks.

grafpup currently uses icewm and will use openbox in it's next version.

Dynebolic uses Window Maker, and I believe the next version of Mandriva One will use a new DE.
