I'm having to use cut and paste, example-

How do you do a tidy job?

I've moved your thread to a more appropriate place.
In answer to your question, you add the appropriate tags, like so: what I want to appear as text that goes to the link Just take out that extra space after the word url

So I'll have a go, I hope I've understood the process but I'm not confident.
I selected Reply to a Thread and in preparing my posting I've done these-
I've cut and pasted the url from another webpage.
I added square brackets around the url
I've added url= in front of http://etc without a space between url and =
I've added the words myfirstlink
If below there's anything other than the words "myfirstlink" then I've made an error and I'd need some more help.

I'm including a screenshot of what will appear as this:
My First Link (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Webcam#head-836881f8aaa64508507ce1f2091b24b8aead02cb)
You need that closing [/url] in order for it to work.
