Heya... I recently purchased a Gateway MX6933b notebook (click here for specs (http://uk.gateway.com/products/prodDetails.html?prod=MX6933b)).

I'm wondering, does ubuntu-am64/em64t utilise both cores in the cpu plus run them in 64-bit mode?

I have ubuntu installed at the moment... Updating to see if that makes any difference from the hanging it sometimes does (I *will* get it working... I'd rather not use Gentoo unless I *absolutely* have to!).

So yeah... If anyone could tell me if ubuntu 6.06 utilises both cpu cores AND the 64-bitiness, I'd be grateful!

Ubuntu 6.10 should be able to utilize both cores in 64 bit mode. I'm not sure about Dapper.

Thanks! I do have a problem with Edgy Eft though... Everytime I run the installer on the Live CD it hangs @ 7% on "Reading Filesystem" (just before loading the partitioner)... Any ideas why? It's a 160Gb SATA Hitachi (when comes up as scsi heh)
