Sim City 4 freezes up

So a good friend of mine got me into the wonderful world of Ubuntu...

Although I was able to get WoW and Rollercoaster Tycoon onto the computer with no problems, SimCity 4 is not working..

The install went OK, but here is my problem:

After loading the game, the "EA Games" and "Maxis" logos appear.. then the intro movie shows...

after the intro movie (or after clicking with the mouse), the game freezes up and does not load the main menu...

if anyone knows what is wrong i'd appreciate it..

haha I checked WineHQ but it seems not hard enough..

i did not notice it needed -d:software..

after putting that in, it worked flawlessly!!
