A few weeks ago, I posted this topic: http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=313673
Summary: Making a commercial for Ubuntu for a school project. Just this last week, I finished it.
Although it's quite amateur (my first commercial), I try to highlite the benefits of linux (Ubuntu in particular). This is my final result. If I get good feedback, I might try to refine it.
Only on Video Google as of now. Please don't post this anywhere without my permission. If you would like to give comments or suggestions, either PM me here, email me at dan.schnell@gmail.com, or talk to me on AIM @ whattheschnell.

Heh, I love it. The "OH NOEZ WINDOZE HAS CRA$HED" part was funny. Just gotta make sure it flows a bit nicer (especially the part about viruses), and make sure to outline the benefits. Ideally, you shouldn't even mention Windows in the commercial, but it's for a school project so that's OK.

Its a High School level course, so you shouldn't be expecting anything 'spectactular' I have limited tools at my disposal. If I had AfterEffects, i could do so much more. But thanks for the feeback!

Nice work!.....I think the Ubuntu community as a whole should take this beyond recognition of a High School project and start a community thread right here where Ubuntu users can post links to their Ubuntu Commercial (Ads).....just for fun.;)

Thanks so much for all the positive feedback. I'll show my teacher this thread, he'll be thrilled (He too is a xubuntu user like me)
Edit:
start a community thread right here where Ubuntu users can post links to their Ubuntu Commercial (Ads).....just for fun

If you check out the latest Blog of Helios (http://blog.lobby4linux.com/index.php?/archives/97-Making-Linux-Happen-It-all-comes-down-to-this..html) (under "LIGHTS, CAMERA, AND.....ACTION"), you will find that Lobby4Linux is embarking on a campaign whereby distros are being requested to do just that.

Why take it else where when it can be done right here, right now instead!
At the most advanced user community board of any Linux distro;
ubuntuforums.org
it can begin in this thread or another perhaps even a sticky?
no need for our members to post in some random place when they are welcomed here.

This thread is fine with me, or if you want, make a new sticky and merge this topic with it...
I just want people to see my video.

Pretty neat, but you should be careful about the viruses/spyware part. There ARE viruses and spyware for linux, they're just not very common, and it's much more difficult to get them. The problem is, you can make software as secure as you like, but if somebody comes along and is stupid enough to open 'that' email, then there's not much can be done.

Also the "you'll have no problems switching" part can set unrealistic expectations. Not necessarily everyone migrating from Windows has a smooth transition and this won't change anytime soon.

I didn't say that there weren't problems, i left that open, cause even Ubuntu has problems. What I meant by saying that is that installing and actually get from windoze to ubuntu is relatively simple
(although even on my custom built computer I still have x.org problems with configuring video drivers, hence why I use xubuntu)

What I meant by saying that is that installing and actually get from windoze to ubuntu is relatively simpleIf you meant that, the way you phrased it isn't very accurate. The sentence, in its broadest possible interpretation, says "no matter who you are, what software you run, what version of Windows you use, whether or not your hardware is supported in Linux, you'll have no problems switching", and that just isn't true.

The onlt problem I had with the videos content was the word "never/ever" (I cant remember which was used).... Kinda reminds me of how people said the Titanic was unsinkable. Spyware and viruses are a real possible in Linux over the next few years.... You cannot say that there will never bbe spyware but you can say that it's almost impossible to get it. It's still a well done comemrical though. Some nice editing there.

I try to give security, maybe I over did. Obviously it is possible, but I'm trying to win them over from windows

If it were a real commercial, you could be sued for false advertising. Take your pick :)

Not to raise unrealistic expectations that cause uncalled for fuss in the future, it's better to be as specific and realistic as possible.

I think it would be easy to reword it to say soemthing like.... "
"There are barely no viruses"
"Spyware on Linux is unheard of"
"There is almost no chance of getting a virus or spyware"
That's just a pointer... I'm sure you can think of better phrases. You still should point this out as one of the major advanteges, but also maybe some other advantegs like the quality of the software and ease of installation.

Like I said, I'll prolly revise it, and those phrases will more than likely be used!
