I've got some custom-made mouse cursors that I use on Windows, and I'm wondering how to apply them in Ubuntu. They're in the form of .cur and .ani files.

You'll have to do it manually. Just download an existing cursor themes and replace the image files accordingly (make sure they're saved in the right format too, not just same name).

Wow. None of these responses were in any way helpful, and at least one of them was downright rude.
Regarding Albi's comment about just replacing images in an existing theme: If you download an existing cursor set (or just look at the ones on your system) you will see that they do Not have a file extension, and thus do not tell you what file format they are. Checking their properties does not reveal their file type either. How does one match file formats when the format is unknown?
So instead of replying with a guess or a snide remark regarding common sense (or lack thereof), I searched google for half an hour and eventually found a bit of information. You can make cursors using xcorsorgen to convert .png images into cursors, but that's about the only method to create cursors I could find. Here's the brief manual for it:
http://www.linuxcommand.org/man_pages/xcursorgen1.html
http://gursormaker.sourceforge.net/ is another resource you might consider looking at.

I thought it was more appropriate than the "..." which I was replying to. *shrug*
But thanks for having an opinion.
