Cheap PCs pre/post Vista ???

Just a thought, but with Vista imminent, i guess alot of PC stockists (e.g. PCWorld) will have leftover/unsold XP based machines when Vista finally hits. Consumers being what we are, most people will choose (be persuaded to choose) the 'new exciting cutting-edge' (i use that phrase VERY loosely) Vista OS.

So does this mean PC retailers will drop prices of their surplus XP machines? Cheap PCS.....!!!

Thoughts?

EDIT: i just remembered the free Vista Upgrade that comes with most new PCs now, but choosing to ignore it on top of not all have it anyway

You're probably right, with everybody getting new computers for Vista, there should be a surge in cheap "obsolete" machines.

I had this thought too as I am looking for a low end machine for my mother.

I bought and Acer laptop just before Christmas and by all accounts I am going to be sent and upgrade to Vista, that'll come in useful as a mat for my coffee.
