How can i do that? It's easy on windows but i can't find it how it's done on linux. I recently installed Ubuntu and i'm a little confused. On windows all i did was to unzip the files in the eclipse directory and it worked just fine. Is it the same on linux? And where is the eclipse directory located?

I recently installed eclipse on both win and Ubuntu, and Ubuntu was simpler :-)

Like everything in ubuntu, you can install it using Synaptic. It checks dependencies and loads them too.. And adds icon to "Programming" menu - cannot be any easier than that.

if you want the most up to date eclipse you can just download it and extract it to where ever and it should work fine provided you have a jdk installed. I personaly use Sun's JDK but i see no problems with using Gnu's implementation.
