Hi,

Yesterday I had problems with screen resolution and I was searching the forums. I came to know about something called the X window system. I was confused because I thought it was GNOME which was responsible for the way things appear on the screen. Even after a lot of searching in the forums and on the web about X window system, still things aren't very clear about those two. Is there any simple tutorial or discussion about the relation between X Window system and GNOME. I read about X Window system at the following link.

Thanks,
Vj

Oops I meant to post this in Absolute Beginner Talk forum. How can I move this post to that forum??

The X-Window system is nothing but a graphical system under which window managers such as Gnome, KDE and others are used and developed.
