Hello fellows, :)

I would like to know if you have any good tutorial about isometric engine creation.

I'm starting a project to create an isometric game, with a diablo like style based on D20 (D&D3.5 - Modern D20 open license) rule system.

Do you have any good site to pass as reference for me? I will make everything available in a web page.

If someone would like to join me, feel free to send a message.

thnx,

I don't know if this helps but
a long time ago I found this guys who were making a platform independent GPLed grafics engine based on Fallout's engine
http://www.fifengine.de/
From the homepage: For the ones that have never heard about FIFE: this project is an open source engine that aims to be a platform for the creation of 2D RPGs. We do also provide support for the assets of the original Fallout games. So FIFE will be a good choice for the creation of Fallout-like & even non-Fallout-like games under all major platforms (Linux, Windows, Mac) with the emphasis on easy modding.

I hope that helps you :)

Here's something I fell over on the net: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GemRB

It seems to be in early development though.

I did something like that as a hobby project a few years ago. The painter's algorithm is the simplest one to use, and its slowness should not generally matter with modern hardware. Are you sure you know about the limitations of the isometric projection, though? Don't think it is perfect just because Diablo looks cool.

Hi I am interest in helping you and maybe 1-2 of my friend too. We are nothing but proffessional, but we got time. I don't know much about programing myself but still I know a lot about d20 system and I love these type of game. For your game will you be using python... because if you want to do a 3d rpg their is a lot of tool. Anyway graphic is the last of the problem the main aspect of a game is the gameplay.

So we could creat a forum for the game and begin working on it?
