Fancy Fonts?

I wanted to edit an image in gimp, to find there are no fancy fonts available.

You know, the fancy handwriting stuff? Where can I get some?

dl and unzip/untar them and place them in /usr/share/fonts

Okey I did that, but it's not showing up in gimp.

Do I need to do a restart?

I have a laptop that came loaded with windows.
I moved my windows fonts do my /home./fonts dir

But firefox opens page uglier than it used to open on windows

I wonder what can I do to make my webpages and apps look like they looked on windows (using firefox for example)

I second this. I figured it might be the cleartype settings, but these don't affect it in Firefox.
