Where did you get my address?

On friday I received notification that there ws a package waiting for me to collect at the PO. Recently, I ordered something from the US, a very small item, and I presumed this was it. Imagine my surprise when I was presented with something the size of a shoe box.
So, I got back to the office, opened it and found a bunch of CDs.

Strange. I never requested them, in fact I've never even heard of ubuntu...

I tried the live one at home, but it didn't se my USB mouse.

I'll try installing one sometime, see what happens.

Um. That's odd. Very odd indeed.

We're not who you need to be talking to though ;) while I'm sure we'll all find it interesting, not much we can do about getting to the bottom of it. We're just the forums ;) Try emailing daniels or mako @canonical.com

I can't imagine why you'd get those if you never requested them. Are they hoary or warty? And I don't THINK they ship in boxes. My warty CDs were in white bags. Maybe one of your friends? What was the return address? Where was it shipped from?

This is very, very odd

Maybe it's a worldwide commercial campaign to send a Ubuntu CD to every people in the Earth

Where was it shipped from?I'm not 100% sure. there's no return address, although there's a covering letter from canonical and it came via Schipol.
No reason why though...
I've emailed them to say thanks. Perhaps they got my address from one of the many internet cafe listings out there. There was an out of date phone number on the label too...

As for the USB thing, I plugged my mouse directly into the USB socket, rather than using an adaptor and the PS2 socket, and it works... :)

Why not just leave them there so that others can use them?

Why not just leave them there so that others can use them? That's what I'm doing.

It's nice timing actually, I'm replacing some of my computers, so I'll install it on the ones I'm selling.

It's the warty release, 4.10. I tried to install it at home last night, but the results of that belong in a different forum... :-(
