Where did you get the theme from ? There are many on gnome look (http://www.gnome-look.org/index.php?xcontentmode=150) for example.
Just download the file in your /home (I have a special file for themes) > System > Administration > Login window > Add ;)
Then tick the gdm theme.

Hi,
how do you manually install GDM themes? I downloaded some themes from art.gnome.org, but they don't appear at all when I select "Add" from the Login Window -> Local tab.
Tar.gz and tar.bz2 are the correct formats, yes?
EDIT: Nvm, just renamed it to BlueSwirl.tar.gz. It doesn't support .tar.bz2 formats.
