...directly from dialog showed after you plugged in your camera? Just by clicking on Import button?
Go to "System -> Preferences -> Removable Drives & Media" and click on "Cameras" tab. Then chnage command for Digital camera to f-spot-import. That's it. From now if you plug in your camera and click import on the dialog, f-spot will start and give you an option to import photos from your camera. So if you haven't know it, now you know :)
