Hi,

so I installed the Battlefield 2 linux server on my computer and I changed the server config files to the correct values, but for some reason, when i launch start.sh (thats the launcher) it doesnt launch. I tried it in the terminal and also just by clicking on it.

Could someone help me resolve my issue, or maybe just walk me through the setup from scratch?

Thanks

Hey, I'm also having issues configuring a dedicated server. I was able to setup the server correctly and I have forwarded the correct ports to my linux box, but when I launch the .sh file in the server IP section, it reads, DNS error. Does anyone know how to correct this? My server is listed in the Battlefield 2 Game, but when I try to connect it indicates, no response from server.

BTW, in response to your question, here's how i set it up and got the program to work.

1) Unzip the downloaded file to somewhere on your computer. It should end in something really long followed by .sh

2) Open terminal and change the directory to wherever you saved the file

3) Type in "chmod u+x whateveryourfileiscalled.sh" and when it is done, close the window.

4) Double Click the new .sh file to install your program.

5) Accept the agreement.

6) It should now be fixed, if it is not, consider redownloading the file from EA games.

If you have had any more luck than me though getting the server to actually respond to clients, let me now.

Talk to you later,
Frankie

Hey, just a quick update...

Got the server to work. I had to forward a couple ports to the linux box... I ended up forwarding them to the wrong IP address the first time, but all is fixed now. On my screen, it shows DNS error, but it now can be logged onto. If you need more help, just PM me.
