If you are like me and prefer the Clearlooks theme but feel it is nonetheless a little plain, try this out:
http://art.gnome.org/themes/metacity/1043/

Just adds a little more definition to window borders. Looks great!

Do not post these type of things in the tips and tricks.

And no, I'll stick with good ol' Light Blue Clearlooks.

I actually looked around to figure out the best place to post my comment, and this seemed like the most appropriate place. Which forum should I have posted it to?

It is not enough to tell people what they shouldn't do. If you are going to play big brother, you need to give an alternative. Otherwise, you are just being bossy. And that's not exactly a good quality for a forum.

I would think Ubuntu Art and Talk would be the place to talk about eye candy/themes, not Customization Tricks. I even moved it for you, what else do you want..

Thanks. I didn't see that forum, probably because I was in the Hoary-specific forum area at the time.

In answer to your question, I guess the only other thing I would ask for is a little less attitude. It doesn't serve any purpose, just makes the forum less friendly.

I do however appreciate all your work in this forum. You are a great asset to the community.

Well, in the section you posted, the first thing in flashy orange is the -do not post...- announcement. We are all guessing you saw this flash in front of you and just ignored it.
Besides, bear with me, 3 days with barely no sleep does not make you user friendly.

I understand and I appreciate all your work in the forum.

But there are usually reasons why people do things that seem stupid. In this case I didn't see the orange flashy thing you're referring to.

I am not in fact stupid, and don't really appreciate being treated that way. No one does.

Okay.. I don't know how you got the idea that I'm calling you stuff, but lets just say I did so sorry for that.

On to more productive things..

Thanks. I don't think you're calling me things, you're just flipping some attitude. If that's what you need to get through the day, I guess that's fine.

Back to work...

N'jal I don't mean to pass by your post in which I am not familiar with gtk-engines, but I am well assure that the guru's who deal with themes can help you :D

My Apologies on this.

Now, calvinpriest, do note that bored2k is only pointing out a view of what is supposed to be posted where.

Otherwise, you are just being bossy. And that's not exactly a good quality for a forum.

That is not what he is doing nor his job is to be bossy, just to instruct and to provide. In order for him to instruct, he is to provide the information, please note that people have different ways of taking things and in his intentions were not bossy, just forward to provide you with the best information and quality of what is needed on the forums.

I hope you don't feel like this communities staff is out to boss people around, that's not our job, and I hope you understand that we're only here to keep things inline and not to make the community members feel like they have to watch what/where they post, but in this case it is very forward of as to what goes where.

Please try to keep all posts at their areas, and I hope this does clear things in the air :)

Thanks BB.

I would have felt that bored2k's initial response to my post would have been completely worthwhile if only he had mentioned where I should have posted instead. If you're going to correct someone, you should provide them with information, not just tell them they're wrong.

Reading the thread again, I can see how bored2k didn't intend to be rude. It's just that with each comment, there was something a little sarcastic about it. All I did was respond more or less in kind. This is how negative threads happen...

First of all I am sarcastic in every sentence I write. I enjoy it. Now you have to understand on small detail: I like to keep the Tips n Tricks subforums neat and clean, because that is where everyone with a problem ends up going. Everyday I have to filter at least 8 postings that have to do nothing with that subforum's objective. The forum has a large amount of ramifications so the member can read them, breath a second and post in the right spot, not just post "help" or "look!" like the world is going to end after he/she hits [ENTER]. To sum things up, let's just say you got caught in the middle of it.

"he had mentioned where I should have posted instead." We're all grown ups and you're probably older than me, so I'm not going to tell you what's right and wrong if the rules are already there (nobody seems to be reading announcements nowadays..). For this matter, I've decided to start writing some generic answers I'd mix with mine, so this type of thing does not happen again. Again, I still think I did nothing but right, but I'm not going to --force a shoving match around here. After all, we're all here because we want to, not because of a signed contract.

[sarcasm=on]I was hoping I wouldn't touch this topic again, but I just didn't want to leave people thinking wrong the mods. If you feel I'm bossy, ok no problem but don't say the community and its mods are bad, just say I, bored2k, am th evil one [uhh scary]. :?

Can someone give their opinion on the "Great theme" please :? ? (notice [sarcasm] is still on).

Can somebody redo this theme with squared window borders? I hate the aliasing around the edges.

bored2k:

Being sarcastic in everything you write guarantees a certain amount of bad feeling.

It's better to be sarcastic with people who you know, and who will know you don't mean anything by it. Sarcasm doesn't work well with people you don't know, or in print, and isn't a great idea in a public forum.

That said, it's no big deal. I know you didn't mean anything by it. But it certainly irritated me this morning.

For my part, I didn't need to take it the wrong way to being with...
