hello to all..
i have an acer 5514 wlmi(with ati x700)and i have installed kubuntu 6.10!!i also installed beryl according to this link http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu_Edgy#How_to_install_Xgl.2FBeryl_.28ATI.29 .the only thing,i changed was:exec gnome-session with this exec startkde
when i select the xgl session ,beryl doesn't load.also when i write to command line (alt+f2)beryl-manager,the only thing that is doing is to disappear the toolbar and the borders of the windows.
i am desperate!
is there a way to make beryl work?

isn't there a way to integrate beryl into the default kde session, rather than making a separate xgl session ?

of course, that isn't always the best idea, but for some cases it might be the only option.

i think that x700 is the "strangest" graphic card for beryl.(it's impossible to make it work)ati users help me!!!

Someone please post a tutorial for X700 mobility Beryl installation. I'm desperate! The fglrx driver isn't working for me either. I tried to use the ati driver but X crashed and I saw nothing but a blank screen. I've seen videos of Beryl running on an x700...there has to be something.

Thank you in advance!

I have the same problem, ati drivers don't work, EXCEPT if you (on my acer 5024) attach an external monitor.
Still, I can't get the resolution higher than 800x600 but beryl works.
otherwise, the screen goes blank (still hear the sound of booting)
Anyone got a solution ?

I'm having problems on beryl too on my radeon x700 (mobile). I can start the beryl manager, but i can't select beryl as window manager, it just switches back to kde. I've included my xorg.conf as an attachment. I'm running Kubuntu Feisty Fawn. Also When I type beryl in console and press enter I get some errors about missing xFree86-DRI (I have installed everything I could find about xfree), glxBindTexImageEXT (installed everything with glx in the name exept nvidia stuff) and an error of not being able to find my monitor? Someone who can help please?
