View Full Version : Repository question

I had a couple of question about UbuntuCE repositories and packages.

Because CE is, basically, a reconfigured Ubuntu, I assume that most of its packages come directly from the corresponding Ubuntu release. Is there, however, a repository with the CE-specific packages?

Also, is there a meta-package that one could install to upgrade a regular Ubuntu release to UbuntuCE (similar to installing ubuntu-desktop on a server install)?

Thanks...
John

There currenty isn't anything in the repos, but there is a script that you can use to convert to Christian Edition. You can download it here (http://www.whatwouldjesusdownload.com/christianubuntu/2006/11/ubuntu-ce-v20-edgy-downloads.html) for Edgy or here (http://www.whatwouldjesusdownload.com/christianubuntu/2006/11/ubuntu-ce-v151-dapper-downloads.html) for Dapper. Just look for the line that says Convert, download it, untar it and open the file "Start" and tell it run in terminal.

As for all of the packages, they are found in various repository catagories, but I don't know the exact ones.

Hi,
but is it possible to make some repository? Instalation script is good, but repository is far, far better. Managing packages (ie. installing only CE theme but no SW) , automatic repairing bugs etc. I don't like to install some software by the help of another system than packages. I thing it will be great improvement of an ubuntu CE to convert the install script to repository with one top meta-package.
If you need, I should help you with making this repository.
