Anyone else think the list is getting too big? Can't we split up the sections, maybe make it look more like Gentoo's wiki (http://gentoo-wiki.com/Main_Page)?

No; if you want a wiki, we have wiki.ubuntu.com. I like it as it is; you have everything you need in front of you, and can just search the entire guide from one page.

Ok, just seems unorganized is all.

I agree that the list getting to long. The gentoo Wiki 1) looks better 2) is better organised. There another ubuntu wiki called "ubuntupedia" which has a better layout but unfortunately it is only in Portuguese http://ubuntupedia.info

Well I've started to try to organize the current list. Will take awhile though as I'm just doing it as I can.

Sexy is great. Really it has become a bit too much. We will wait patiently.

i acctually like the fact that i am able to scroll through the whole list of howto's without having to click on any links or going back-link-back-link as usual in wikis... i also like the fact that having all the information on one page is a good way to ensure that i am not missing anything... that i haven't left anything unread or untested :D ... but then again - it's just my point of view ;)

Maybe have two versions, keep them all on one page as an option, but have them like gentoo's wiki as default?

i had a little idea while i was at work thinking about it. maybe we could have a little page that would have button options for new users, with the most basic questions like maybe

do you want 3d acceleration for you nvidia card?
do you want a photo manager?
do you want google earth?

and little button options to check yes, default is no, that way we could separate some of the more complex things from the wiki for new users who might be overwhelmed with it all. and after they submit there answers a new page is brought up that has only the options they checked yes on, in appropriate order. the original of course will be kept, as thats how i, and many others like it, but i was just thinking that for new users it may be too overwhelming. and cluttered. however they may want to still do it from the command line and have control so automatix, and easy ubuntu wouldn't appeal to them.

i dunno just throwing out a thought

This topic is old, but I obsessively use the guide so I thought I'd chime in:

I really like that it's one page. I love just using ctrl-f to get look through it. When I was first starting with Ubuntu and linux I found out that a lot of things were possible just by searching and reading through the thing (ie, searching on "Nvidia" introduced me to the concept of XGL). I very likely might not have done so had I needed to go from page to page.

I agree with the statement that it's not a wiki and doesn't need to be divided up like one. It serves a different purposes (extremely well) and is, IMHO, better off being on the single page.

If it really does have to be divided up: would also keeping a one page version be possible? Maybe linked from the beginning of the first page of the wiki-style one?
