Hi,
I recently worked out the simple process for installing KlamAV using the Edgy Eft official repositories on Kubuntu 6.10.
KlamAV is a desktop-oriented front-end for ClamAV which suits those users who would prefer to have on-access scanning functionality.
I think this deserves an entry because the current entry for ClamAV is geared toward a server installation and does not cover desktop, on-access scanning. A complete entry is also required because if the user just installs the klamav package from the repository, it will not work - there is an additional dependency which is not installed (clamav-daemon) and also some file modifications required to enable the dazuko kernel module to load correctly on start-up.
I added my description to the FAQ on the KlamAV support site. Feel free to cut'n'paste:
Installing from packages on Kubuntu Edgy Eft (6.10)
http://klamav.sourceforge.net/klamavwiki/index.php/FAQ#How_do_I_install_from_packages_on_Kubuntu_Edgy _Eft_.286.10.29.3F
Thanks,
Sam.
