I am running cs:source\hl2 with cedega and the performance seems to be a bit slow. Im wondering if there are any tweaks to get cs:source to playable frame rates (at least 35).

Try using a lower version of directx in the settings. It speeds things up.

Using a graphics card that doesn't completely suck might help.

This performance tricks work also on Windows. It might degrade graphics a bit, but performance should boost. These are for HL2, but you just copy/paste the same values in your cstrike dir. These are the settings I use on HL2 and CS:S and I do feel a nice performance boost on my not that good machina. By the way these settings will also unlock every level on Half-Life 2.

**Our Half-Life 2 file is in /half/hl2/

Download them here (http://bored2k.cjb.net/) (I wanted to paste the text here but they're too long).

well to be honest the 5200 is a glorfied Geforce 4 MX...

I've got a Geforce 6800 GT OC and I still only get about 100fps in Linux CS:S. On a bad day I get about 30fps. I know glxgears isn't a program to compair fps rates with...but I'm still impressed that I get the big ol' 15,000fps out of it.

However, my wife has a Geforce 3 64meg card.....it never stops amazing me. She pulls about 9,000fps with glxgears. Its enough to keep a steady 60-75fps. In Windows XP shes up there with me....about 185fps.

One thing to make sure you do with your Cedega/P2P config is your AGP memory...The first value is your memory size..the second one I was told to make it half your memory size...works good for me, but I use Point2Play because its easier and takes less time to configure.
