well, i have been doing an "install/from windows" and the walkthrough on the ubuntu page is wrong,

it says to apped "menu.lst" to the c:/boot/grub, but eve since grub 0.4.0, the menu.lst fule must be placed in "c:/", this has had me getting slightly frustrated for the past hour, because i keep changing stuff, then having to reboot my old laptop, that is slow, and takes forever to boot up.

Wall86,

Could you post the hot-to you are following? BTW, you could just post in the regular sections of the forums and get an answer as well. (General Help or Installation & Upgrades look like good places to post your question.)

Are you referring to this page: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/FromWindows?

You can simply correct the page yourself by logging in and editing it, or alternatively, you can open a bug on Ubuntu documentation here: https://launchpad.net/products/ubuntu-doc/+bugs

Yeah, you simply follow the link to login, register in Launchpad (if you haven't already), and then edit away.
