I'm curious, of the WoW players we have here, how many use Cedega and how many use Wine? I am having a hell of a time with Cedega and its kind of annoying, and I hear people are having good progress with Wine..

What kernel verison is everyone using?

I suspect it is Cedega, but I can't upgrade wow, or even really get it to run, going to try wine....

edgy /w 2.6.17-10-386

Wow works fine here with wine using the latest build, however my integrated intel chipset doesn't work quite as well. :P

Latest builds of wine for dapper and edgy at this location:

I'll be getting an Nvidia card in a week or so, this should clear up any further issues I have.

Im running WoW on wine. Its up and running, but there are still a few kinks to work out. If I plan on really sitting down and playing, its still in windows until I get everything working perfectly.

Im using wine, gameplay wise it's platinum for me since last WoW patch that had alot of ATi fixes only thing is minimap still doesn't work indoors but that's a very minor problem :)

It's a pain trying to farm instances with that map issues >.< it's been so long since I've really really played I get lost without a simple map lol.

I need to upgrade my ram...my graphics card shares memory, so the one gig I have leads to kind of choppy play since the video card steals 128 of my ram (the BIOS needs to be update for the settings to take effect, and I Can't seem to do it under linux)

any chance someone out there in all of there linux mastery might be able to write a how-to on how to get WoW working somewhat decently? i just rescently had a very bad experience with xp/vista, so i wiped everything out, and installed ubuntu, the only issue i really have is not being abel to play my WoW :( ,

also, anyone possibly know if I can play runescape in ubuntu? im still working on getting my wifi working, and i have yet to try it.

Just apt-geted wine, installed wow, updated and have played flawless since then. Get nowhere near the performance in win.

I have a problem with how I am supposed to understand that last sentence.

Do you mean to say that the performance is better in Ubuntu or Win?

I've been wondering that for the last 9 hours.

WOW! That's impressive! Go Wine! :-D

I can also point to this poll, where many users had similar results with running WoW in Wine:
http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=301710

Results from poll:
Better on native Windows 7 36.84%
Better under Wine 0.9.25 7 36.84%
No difference 5 26.32%

Do the number pad keys work in the latest version of Wine/Ubuntu? If they do, I will be very happy...
