I cant seem to install GTK Wifi.
I keep getting this-
Package python2.4-gnome2-extras is not installed.
Can anybody point me in the right direction??
I've only recently installed XUbuntu 6.10 (yesterday). I'm a little more familiar with Fedora and i cant get my head around this Ubuntu stuff.

Try:

sudo apt-get install python2.4-gnome2-extras

Hmmmmmm... This is what i get
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Note, selecting python-gnome2-extras instead of python2.4-gnome2-extras
You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
python-gnome2-extras: Depends: libgda2-3 but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libgdl-1-0 but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libgksu1.2-1 (>= 1.3.3) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libgksuui1.0-1 but it is not going to be installed
Depends: python-gnome2-desktop but it is not going to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).

I tried 'apt-get -f install' and then all worked fine. Thankyou.

I now have another problem, it wont open.
No icon appeared so i went into /usr/bin and tried to open it from there. But no potato. Any ideas?
I'm using gtkwifi-1.08, should i be using 1.06 or ?? If so how do i uninstall it?
Sorry for the tiresom noob Q's but im used to using yum.

Ok, so i uninstalled GTKWifi 1.08 with 'apt-get remove' (thanks to "man") and reinstalled GtkWifi 1.06 to see if that made a difference.
Same story, i cant run the application from /usr/bin/. I right click and execute and nothing happens.
Am i missing something here?
I really need help here and im not getting much interest. Im very new to this and i really appreciate help with what may seem simple to you but two hours of internet searching for me. Thanx in advance to anyone that can contribute,

Still not working after hours and hours of tinkering.
Apparently it's not even installed, here's the output when i try ro remove it
benjo@laptop:~$ sudo apt-get remove gtkwifi
Password:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package gtkwifi is not installed, so not removed
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
benjo@laptop:~$

But i still have these in my /usr/bin/
- gtk-update-icon-cache (executable file)
- gtkwifi (python script)
- gtkwifi-settings-client (python script)

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WILL SOMEBODY HELP ME!!!!!

Since this last post, i gave up and re-installed ubuntu but this time with Dapper 6.06LTS. GTK Wifi worked first time but my card doesn't seem to be supported so i'm going to try ndiswrapper and see how i go, right after i learn how to upgrade my Kernel that is (here goes another two weeks of my life im sure).
