Hi guys. I installed ubuntu and the latest ati drivers from synaptic. I added in xorg.conf fglrx as driver. glxgears gets me around 1200FPS. I start UT2004 after killing esd. I play at high details and withLOD as low no fog. at 1280x800. I have a laptop made by gateway, m505X pentium m 1,4ghz banias 512 mb ram radeon 9600 mobile with 64mb ram. On windows ut runs fine but here it is hitching although it is now swapping. I had the idea of recompiling kernel 2.6.10 with a Ck7 patch and with a proper configuration for my system. And everything went fine except now Ut doesn't start any more and glxgears gives me 200FPS although in xorg.conf says fglrx and i reinstalled the drivers. I tried an ubuntu kernel source with no patches only with compile options from pentium-m didn't work too. What should i do to increase performance in games?
Thanks
P.S. I'm trying to get away of windows so i need your help with gaming

there is some ati specific links in this guide: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=25723

some of them are for troubleshooting, if you have not already seen the guide and the links that is.
