Unreal Tournament Texture Upgrade?

I installed the old unreal tournament and it runs great. I seem to remember though that there was a free texture upgrade patch that some folks made. Anyone know anything about this or if it will even be compatible with linux?:confused:

The texture upgrade you're thinking about is probably the S3TC textures.
They can be found on the second of the UTGOTY CDs. If you don't have the UTGOTY edition, you might be interested in this site,

Unreal Retexturing Project, There's still life in the old game you know ;)
You can get better textures than the ones that epic came out with (I think they are), and also S3TC textures for most UT/Unreal1 textures (not just a few texture packages like you get in the goty 2:nd cd) if you install these textures.
