can deluge be made to support oink?
on their forums this is what they say:
before i give it a go, just want to make sure that Deluge would be ok to use? seems it uses the same version of libtorrent that my rtorrent uses, so it should be hunky-dory?
I don't see any peers using Deluge on the tracker, are you implying you are using it successfully?
rtorrent uses a completely different libtorrent, btw, and as slickbrick pointed out, the version of libtorrent that Deluge uses is specifically banned, but exceptions might be able to me made on a case-by-case basis.
there are 2 libtorrent libraries (i know, i know), the one rtorrent uses (its own) isn't banned. The other is, though applications based on the current CVS could potentially be allowed assuming there are no other problems with the client.

I guess that as soon as Deluge uses a newer version of libtorrent it will be unbanned / allowed on OiNK. Since this will be the case for the 0.4 release we just need to wait for it to be released, and contant OiNK again.

Just an update: with Deluge 0.4 (RC2) I am able to connect, download, and seed on OiNK :)

I assume it's a tracker.
A bit of googling and Voila!

pardon my ignorance, but where is the download for 0.4 rc2? On the download page, I only see the older releases.

scroll down to "Development Version" it's at the bottom of the page. If you aren't using Ubuntu, you'll have to check the source out of SVN, I'm only going to provide tarballs of 0.4 once it is final.
EDIT: if you don't see it, its 0.3.99.2

ah, the number version threw me off. deluge is great and I am very, very close to getting rid of azureus once and for all and using deluge as my default. thanks!

I'm not sure where I picked up the convention, but I've always used #.90.x for Beta x, and #.99.x for Release Candidate x.
A fair amount of users seem to be switching to Deluge, and we're back to the # 1 rated spot on gnomefiles.org. I'm not sure if I consider the software mature enough yet, but the more people use it, the better it will get.

I am pleased so far (especially now that oink works). of course, once the loading of .torrent files from a broswer or clicking on a .torrent file in ubuntu loads the torrent, deluge will be a top client. we've all been waiting for something to come along that would replace azureus or bittornado or rtorrent. congrats and keep up the good work.

Cool thanks for that, and for the gentle reminder that "Google is your friend".
Cheers.

I have been running utorrent with wine and it has been working decent, but I really didn't want to have to run a win32 program on Ubuntu. Deluge 0.4 is working for me on Oink as well. I miss some of the features of utorrent in Deluge, but I am sure most of them will be developed over time. Keep up the great work Deluge devs!

I tried using an Oink file in the past. It downloaded fine but wouldn't upload (tracker timeouts)
I'm sure that I should get in trouble for this, but can I get an oink invite ;) conor[period]anderson[at]gmail[period]com
