i have installed the berly on my notebook PC ,and reboot,but i can only stay in the textmode.because the system says :
Failed to start the X server (graphical interface ).It is likely that it is not set up corretly .Would you like to view the X server output to diagnose the problem ?
<yes > <no >
of course i know it would do nothing to choose <yes> (at least to me )

so i choose <no >,
it says :
the x server is now disabled .restart GDM when is configured correctly.
<ok>

choose <ok>,(of course ,only <ok > i can choose)

it takes me back to the text-mode screen ,so I try this way :
enter my accounts,type my password ,so i login in the text mode , then type :startx

it really takes me into the x server ,and the wonderful berly turns up in front of me ....:p

it is somehow great ,though i still can not login directly in to the x server to see my berly baby .i still have to see the black and white mode first ...

so ,how can i try to get a way no need to see the text mode login ??:-|

can anyone give me a good suggestion ?:confused: (hoping that i can still leave the berly safe after i get in )

ps :my graphical card is intel card .

Do you mean, you are getting thrown into runlevel 3 on startup.

I mean the runlevel where its just a command prompt, where you log in?

another questiuon is have yo uset up XGL as a session or have you just made it so its the default thing that happens and overritten the session with it?

I usse XGL as a session, then when my pc loads i choose xgl or gnome regular when i get to the Gnome login.

whenever i power on my pc ,i will first face a text-mode screen ,so you call it command prompt,it popup the <yes> <no > notice to me and let me choose one ,so i choose <yes>,and then <ok>,so again i just get back into the text-mode screen .here i can only see words:

login :

so i login .then use the command "startx",it get me into the berly one .
as you have asked ,i check the runlevel ,my current runlevel is 2 ;

as you question "another questiuon is have yo uset up XGL as a session or have you just made it so its the default thing that happens and overritten the session with it?"

i can not give out m answer.coz when i install the berly ,it seems to be kinda neglected:confused:

Sorry for the late reply (i have been away for he weekend).

Anyways, this problems seems a lot like the problem i get sometimes when my GFX driver goes wrong.

Are you using Nvidia or ATI? (if your using NVIDIA, then i think i can help you - if ATI then il try my best)
