installation follies

i'm using the latest, stable opensuse dvd, and the installation process halts when it starts to partition my drive.

then, when i reboot windows, it has to check the drive for some reason.

also, i couldnt get ubuntu installed on that same computer- also partitioning issues there.

anyone else have this problem?
