Hi all

I've been playing with Warty on my laptop for a while, tweaking it to look the way I want it - which is sorta-kinda similar to Mac OS, as you can see at http://www.neilandlou.co.uk/screenshotlaptop.png.

There's one last thing I would like to do, which is to anumate the Panel icons to expand when the cursor passes over them, as happens in Mac OS X. They are normally 48x48, I'd like them to scale to something like 128x128 as the mouse goes over them.

I was able to do it in Windoze with a program called ObjectDock, has anyone tried to do the same with Warty and had any success, please?

Many thanks

Neil

install gdesklets and gdesklets-data from synaptic or apt-get. Theres a launcher that comes with gdesklets-data that can expand in the way you're talking about.

I found out gnome-panel to be much more suitable at least for my purposes. When using gDesklets, the object bar won't stay on top if you maximize a window. With gnome-panel you can a) keep the panel on top even if you maximize a window b) hide the panel if needed c) make it disappear (autohide).

That way you don't need any extra packages, if you're running GNOME at the moment. There's not much animation available, the size of icons won't change even if you hover your mouse over them (at least not by default, is there any hack available? :>) By default, if you move your cursor over an icon, it will be highlighted.

That is pretty basic, just wanted to ask if there's any hack available.

Thanks for the gDesklet response, but artlay is spot on.

One of the things I like most about the Panel is the fact that it remains on top and essentially moves the top edge of the windows down under it, leaving everything accessible.

So ideally, as artnay said - is there a hack for the panel to animate the icons so they expand (or rock) rather than just highlight, please?
