View Full Version : Cannot upload images

In the past, I have been able to upload screenshots to illustrate things. However, since the forums went offline today, I have not been able to upload JPEG or PNG images (both are less than 100k --- quite typical of the many images I have posted before).

When I click UPLOAD, my computer wants to 'save to disk' or edit the 'newattachment.php' file.

Firefox tries to open/save "profile.php" file when I click "Save changes" button in order to upload my avatar... What's wrong?

I just tried adding a pic from my comp to my profile as my avatar the pic is only 1.9 K and under the 90 X90 size and I get this error when using Konquer

An error occurred while loading http://www.ubuntuforums.org/profile.php?do=updateavatar:
Connection to host www.ubuntuforums.org (http://www.ubuntuforums.org) is broken.

When I try from FF it tries downloading a .php file called profile.php

I'm confused as to what to do next...

I love Ubuntu after yrs of looking at various versions of Linux it was the one that I finally found comfortable enough with to dump Win for,....

Well when I try hitting save changes to add avatar when using FF or Epiphany web browsers it tries top download profile.php to my local system when using konquer I get that error I mentioned before. if there is some other browser I should use or some other combination of things that needs to be on my system or removed from it I'd like to know.](*,)

Just tried Galeon browser and when it tried DLing the profile.php file it had this msg on the request to dl

It is not possible to view this file directly in the browser. You can open it with another application or save it instead.

not sure if that helps.

Test from Windows XP Pro & Firefox...(at work)
(10 Mbps fibre-feed)

These are the steps:
1. Click on Manage Attachments
2. Browse
3. Select a small jpeg that I have posted here before
4. Click upload
5.It starts to upload but the window just returns empty (I'd post a screen shot but, well... you know... I can't :) )

At Home (3.0 Mbps DSL behind D-Link Router)
I also have 2 computers at home running Ubuntu 6.06.1 using Firefox.

Following the same steps, rather than a blank window, when I click on upload I get the message to download or edit the .php file using SCREEM.
