I haven't had a desk-top in 8 years. (Laptops rule)

Looking at price as my only motivator allot of the time I was wondering what way I should go. I haven't see a PC-parts mag since I had a desktop so I can't compare (I'm just now looking around the web.)

Any insight...... or favorite places to shop for parts.

I'd like a box for the house

If yoy know you way around a computer, and have the time to build one, then you should, if you don't, then you shouldn't :)

I second NewEgg.

<off-topic>What part of Chicago to you live in</off-topic>

I knew about Tiger direct,

If you had to buy a box from a big company what would go with?
for the best deal?

Dell, compact, HP, emachine(heard they're crappy), sony.....

The other question I guess I should ask is CPU....

Where's some good gouge on AMD vs Intel I've heard both ways, but I've neve heard anything that would make me lean one way or another.
