I'm new to dapper and it's quite nice. I just grabbed the Eclipse platform and... well, typing is pathetic. Right here in Firefox[and other programs], I can type and it is flawless, real-time, the way it should be. By not real-time I mean.. I'll type say "public" and the screen will finally show the 'B' by the time I've already typed the whole word.

What the hells the deal with Eclipse? I used it with Windows Server2003 on this same machine(thinkpad r60 core duo 1.83ghz 1gb ddr2 7200sata), and it was flawless.

I thought development and programming stability/speed was one of the key reasons to switch from Windows to Linux. Am I wrong, or is something just messed up here?
