Hello all,
I am a relative linux noob and have one question I am hoping the community can help me with.
Can anyone tell me how to "freeze" my desktop and all the apps/windows running on it so that when I re-boot it returns to the exact same state it was in when I rebooted?
I have an app running (gDesklets running StarterBar) that I would like to start back up if I have to reboot my machine.
Thanks in advance for any help!

At the logout prompt, check the save session box. You can also add your applet to the startup programs box.

That's odd. When I try to logout....there is no option to save my session. I only have 4 radio buttons to select....Logout, Shutdown, Restart, Hybernate.
No option to save session. Any ideas?

I'll have to get to an ubuntu box to check it out.

Thanks for the help Dan.
I think I figured it out though. I had previously set System->Preferences->Sessions to automatically save my sessions. That's why I am assuming I did not have the option when I tried to log out.
I set gDesklets as a start-up app and when I tried to log off it gave me a message that gDeskletts was not an app that could resume upon start-up (something to that effect). Could be the app just doesn't support it.
Oh well. It would have been nice to have this start-up each time.
Thanks for the help anyway. ;-)
Mods feel free to move this. I just read the statement at the top of these forums. Won't happen again.

You are welcome.
I didn't even notice that you were in the wrong forum. My favorite link here is Unanswered Threads!
