quake3 widescreen

Anyone know how to get Quake3 working in widescreen. I have it fine in 1024x768 but would like to set it as 1280x800. There is a smaller widescreen setting, but it only uses the lower left portion of my screen.

I agree.. if someone knows where to find the info on how to make quake 3 look decent on ubuntu I would appreciate the help.

After install I can go to "setup" and change the resolution but it doesn't look like it does on my xp pc. Meaning it's either to large or it doesn't take up enough screen space....
