mynimal was kind enough to give me webhosting for deluge, and now I need some suggestions for what to run on it.
i was thinking wiki, or something like drupal or trac... what do you guys think?

I think a wiki should be part of it, but not the whole thing. That's never a good thing for a website in my opinion. I suggest just using some simple blogging software as the main site (For news and etc), should get the job done.
[speaking of which, I'm working on a cms (http://www.mynimalistic.net/) that uses ajax but it's in beta, so. :P]

Why don't use a sourceforge project?
I miss ViewVC to browse the SVN repository :(
Oh, and between those you proposed, trac! For a SVN project trac is the best :)

I LOVE drupal... it can be as simple or complicated as you like...

Wordpress is probably the cleanest, most extensible CMS out there.

Have you visited opensourceCMS.com (http://opensourcecms.com/)? You may be able to get some ideas there.

wow, that's quite a variety of suggestions...
I'm looking into each of them, so here are my initial reactions to each (before research):
drupal: I know nothing about this other than it's name. i hear 5.0 should be out soon, but don't know of any sites that use it.
trac: I have seen several sites that use it, and it looks pretty nice
wiki: Was thinking of useing this, as it would be easy to maintain, and could easily have pages for each objective/goal of each release
wordpress: I currently use this for my own site, collegegeek.org, but I don't see the advantages of using it for an oss project page... I want more features geared toward development.

Wiki: I have seen several good sites that use a wiki, for instance banshee (http://banshee-project.org/Main_Page), I would recomend it
Drupal: overkill,a huge cms
trac: Would work fine, seems more geared toward for developers than the end user though.
Wordpress: Great blog, not a very good cms.

Drupal isn't overkill... you can very easily unload modules and make it into a very minimalistic blog if you want... or a huge community site.
Drupal is very good for community sites.
zachtib: i put together a VERY rushed, mostly defaults, drupal site a month or two ago which could show you how easy it was for me to get a community going. Don't expect anything ground-breaking but PM me for details if interested.

Ever been to getfirefox.com ? ;)
i'm assuming you mean spreadfirefox.com, i just checked, and sure enough, they use drupal
I'm still leaning towards Trac, though, as it has all the features I'm looking for out of the box.

In terms of a CMS. I dare anyone who has used Joomla or Mambo to say a bad thing about them. You wont find anyone who has used them who thinks they are bad...
Can be very simple if you want them to be, otherwise infinitely configurable and easy to use.

We've settled on using Trac, as it integrates the features we use now

It just nicely integrates an issue reporting tool, a wiki, a subversion repository, and an online source browser
EDIT: just found out that Trac can do RSS feeds as well, and autogen them from the page's activity
