First of all, I wasn't sure where to post this, so I guess this would be the best place since it has to do with how people like their first impression of Ubuntu.

Is there or is someone willing to make an "alternate" Human icon set for Ubuntu? I was looking through all the icons in the /usr/share/icons/Human folder, and there are some really nice icons there, like the OpenOffice.org and blue Computer icons. The problem is, these icons are hardly ever or never seen, even though they are so nice.

I think that people would more likely try and use Ubuntu if they had a better first impression, and a really nice icon theme is a great start. Since there are all sorts of colors in the Ubuntu color palette, it wouldn't be against the "rules" to make some alternate icons. Most or all of the work is done, all someone needs to do is re-arrange some of the icons so the beautiful hardly ever seen icons could be "shown off".

Tell me what you think...

I do agree. I am new to linux use and it took some time to find something as you discribed. Perhaps "login window" in preferances could automatically bring you to the directory with the icons your mentioned, I just don't know how to do that.

If you want the blue Human icons, you can get them here: http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=37099

The Human Azul 2 icon theme on gnome-look is wonderful and fits with any blue metacity/gtk theme

i rather like the Buff theme (click (http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=46201)). i think it has character and it is one of the most complete ion sets, but it doesn't go with every gtk theme.
there's also snowish (click (http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=32599)), but because it uses 100% svgs, it tends to be rather slow, so only use if you have a reasonably fast system. its quite complete and it looks nice and stylish.
