Hello all,
Has anyone got ( ubuntucenter/ Hive / ICenterX ) to work on edgy? I installed all the packages necessary, but it seems edgy's packages are too new. I got the source, but ark and the commandline flat out refuse to open it, saying it is an invalid archive. Maybe someone could offer a decent suggestion? Seems to be libgd that is the problem.....

It works after upgrading from Dapper. But I can confirm it doesn't work when installing on Edgy, since it requires libgd2 and libgd2-dev which are no longer included as such in Edgy (it seems it has been renamed libgd2-xpm and/or libgd2-noxpm).

I just installed Ubuntu Center on Edgy (brand new server install) and from my cursory glance through it, it looks like everything went ok. I haven't used a lot of it yet (haven't used a lot of it yet on Edgy anyway) so I can't say for sure. To get it working, I would first suggest you take a look at an earlier thread where I was having installation dependency problems:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=177230 (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=177230)
I already had Apache2, PHP5, and MySQL installed so I did
sudo apt-get install php5-gd php5-mysql id3v2 imagemagick libgd2-xpm php-auth
Then
dpkg --install --force-all ubuntucenter-alpha-01.deb
After that, I did this:
sudo vi /var/lib/dpkg/status
To take out the Ubuntu Center dependencies on the packages I left out. Search for ubuntucenter and just take out whatever packages you didn't install. I think these were the libgd ones.
The web UI comes up and the tables are created properly in MySQL, but I make no guarantees on how well this will work with the libgd libraries taken out and the libgd2-xpm library added in.

I personally haven't tried Edgy out yet. But I want to apologise for making such a bad .deb package, I really should have done a little more research, but I was in a hurry to release.
Yes, I know I haven't done anything for several months, I am working on cooking something up, hopefully I can get a preview out in the next few weeks. I am mostly likely going to release some technology preview, I have almost completed a plugin system and theme system, but they are not ready for 3rd party themes. the MySQL database is still going to be a little messy, but I have cleaned it up some ;)
Oh and as long as GD2 is working with PHP this shouldn't be a problem, so fall the instructions in the post above and it should be fine!
I promise I will create a new installer in the next release, which will be avaliable for other distros besides Ubuntu (not that you guys care ;) ) I am thinking about just using a .sh script for install, it will detect OS and copy the files to the right folders and tell you what you need to install or do it for you, how does that sound?

I'll confirm that also works if you are running fiesty ;) :D
