Question...

I've seen some things here and there about people getting AA 2.7 working under Wine - has anyone in Ubuntu-land got this to work??

I really like the game but it sux that they aren't supporting it anymore on linux past 2.5.

I used to be an AA addict since May 2005 until about 3 months ago.
Nothing to do with the topic... but just wanted to share that  ;)

I was an AA addict for a long time but haven't played the last couple versions.

since everyone else is sharing their stories; I played AA on Windows for a little but threw it out the window (not literally as it was a download) when it made me do a test.

I ended up playing battlefield 1942, great game, which lead me to battlefield vietnam, greatest game on earth. There is nothing like hunting down some commies in a chopper with the music blaring.

If I get the kids to liking it maybe I can convert them too.

I'm downloading truecombat now and will try and get it wine'd. I'll let you know if the port works.

As for AA - it's a great game to monkey with on Linux - I'd love to play BF2 but I can't get the dang thing running right under linux.

Don't run it in wine....

Wolfenstein ET is free and runs natively; so does the TCE mod.

americas army and bf2 will never work perfectly in wine because of punkbuster, it will kick you and maybe possibly even ban you

but if you dont mind playing in non pb servers, go right ahead...
