I'm a new to Linux. I find that Synamptic is not comprehensive. I would like a way to look at just the applications and games. I don't want too see libaries or other supportive software.

Plus, The most annoying thing is when I install an app. The app is lost!!! I don't konw where it went. There is no icon on the screen or menus. Fortunatly i found the locate command, it helps.

Plus, I really feel there should be filters for New Software / Most Popular / and Must haves. I find synamptic boring and there are not any screen shot's. Plus there should be a 5 star rating for the applications. All too often i download it and I really am not sure what to expect.

And Yes I have used Add / Remove and it is good. However i find it lacking selection. Why does Add / Remove have so little and Synamptic has so much. Just a thought

Try Freespire/Linspire and CNR, then.

synaptic, try using kde if you want all the apps to show up in the menu bar. Which is what freespire runs, so the kde kicker plus CNR sounds right up your alley, even though I dont personally like freespire.

I've retitled the thread to be a little more descriptive.

I like Ubuntu and Gnome. Is there a way to add CNR to ubuntu and run its software.

not that Ive heard. I think its a linspire/freespire thing so chances are is that there is some licence on it or something. Though since linspire/freespire is based on debian there may be a chance.
