I don't know if this has been posted or not(can't really think of how I'd search for it), but I figured I'd toss this out there just as an idea just in case. I've seen other forums with a box at the bottom showing users that are browsing that particular part of the forum. Specific usernames wouldn't be necessary, but a number showing that X number of users are currently browsing this forum. Would be kind of handy cause' if I post a topic and there are 0 users browsing that particular forum, I'd know it's probably safe to leave and not worry about it for a while.

I'm not sure if that would be an accurate indicator. I, for example, found this thread through a search for newly-updated threads, not through browsing this subforum.

http://ubuntuforum.org/online.php is what you're looking for i think ;)
We used to have a list of all registered users at the bottom of the frontpage.
However, it grew to about 500 people... and also, seen as there's nor reglarly about 3000 people using the site at any one time, that extra piece of worthless information takes a lot of work every time to be displayed for you.

EDIT ah misread you.... just one part of hte forum... it used to say that too... *checks*
EDIT2 seems like that's gone as well lately.... probably because of the server performance issues again.

Yes, to display those stats on the forum main page takes a pretty large hit to our DB servers. So its turned off :)
