If I point firefox to usr/bin/deluge to open a downloaded .torrent nothing happens. Is there a way to automatically load .torrents from firefox?

this is something that isn't currently supported. the problem is telling if there is currently a deluge session running or not. this is one of my goals for the 0.4 release...

Maybe you can use dbus for that.
Deluge could then check if the path you chose is existing and call a method for adding torrents over dbus.

Even if you decide to implement dbus, please keep it optional. Not everyone wants yet another daemon to be running in the background.

are there any better ways to implement this, other than a daemon, then?

godd*mnit what piece of cr*p is this?
Deluge is Linux-software, and the most-used browser on linux is Firefox/Swiftfox. How do I download a torrent??
Clicking, dragging, pointing to /usr/bin/deluge, save torrent to desktop,...
nothing works

Please calm down, WhishMaster. Note that Deluge is a very new project and has only been developed for a few weeks. As you can read in this thread some of the things you mention are goals for the next release, 0.4.
For now, save the Torrent and use the Add Torrent button in Deluge.
