I hope you guys can help me out here.

We just got a laptop with XP. It works good, but we can't open Freecell or Windows Update. Actually, I don't think we can open anything in C:\Windows. Instead, it opens a CD player.

What happened? Is it spyware? Help us out!

Spyware is definatly a possibility or you may be missing files. Seriously if you just got the Laptop I would just re-install XP, and be done with it.

Did a spyware check, it fixed Freecell. Windows Update still has a music icon though.

This is an old laptop from where my dad works.

I figured it out! I just copied the Windows Update shortcut from my account and put it in for All Users. That took forever to figure out though. I've forgotten how to use Windows!

you normally don't have to do that

your installation of windows is corrupted
