hi,
I am not able to download any repository index.I am getting error msgs a sample of which is as follows:Ign http://archive.ubuntu.com dapper Release.gpg

I have tried again and again but have been unsuccessful.where am I going wrong?

Are you behind a proxy by chance?

Still unsuccessful!same error message.No I am not behind a proxy.Have also tried to use wget for downloading,but get the message:error 404.It seems as if my attempts to download are being blocked by some program or setting.Wish I knew what??](*,)
