i think we will need some Transgaming intervention to get a real fix for this one
tons of people are having that problem

I really hated doing it, but I
* Copied the installation directory to my Windows partition
* Booted into Windows
* Applied the patch
* Booted into Ubuntu
* Copied the data from the Windows partition
