Well for those who do not know a podcast is where someone uploads an audio file with their show, on it, connects it via rss to others who have their shows address and automatically podcasting software goes out and downloads the podcast and syncs it automatically with their ipod, Anyway more info can be found via google or at ipodder.org. So for the main point whare are some of your favorite podcasts? I'm relatively new to it so once I have a favorite I shall post :) .

Just to clarify your description of podcsating - it can be listened with any player (typically mp3, rarely ogg), no need for portable players, definitely no need for ipod. It's fun, it's fresh.
I enjoy my favourite weekly podcast at Spacemusic hosted by TC - lots of Spacemusic (his own too!) and soundscenes. Very ubuntuish podcaster, in my opinion.

And this Linux specific podcast is worth checking out:

Great thread, I always feel a bit swamped when looking for pod-casts as most of them are really....really horrible. But as far as music goes I like:
KEXP's Song of the day (http://www.kexp.org/podcast_songoftheday.xml) which offers a lot of new music and I have bought a couple of albums because of it. It's mainly alternative music, but has been know to feature some hip hop as well.
Of the same quality, if less frequently updated is SubPop (http://www.subpop.com/multimedia/freeradiosp.php) My favorite label which offers a lot of goodness.

Depends what program you want to use. In Ubuntu I use Rhythmbox, which works perfectly, just as Amarok does in (x)(K)Ubuntu.
