During college I learned "joe".
"sudo aptitude install joe"
Anyone else use joe? What terminal text editor do you use? vi?

vim and nano all the way.
Although I've not really used joe much. I've used it about as much as I've used ed. And I must say, that I don't use ed quite often ;)

is that supposed to be ed (http://www.gnu.org/fun/jokes/ed.msg.html)'s brother or something?

I don't know if it is ed's brother. I haven't heard of 'ed' before.

joe is a relation to ed... in the same way that Jam is a relation of sCons!

I have heard that vi has some of the fastest keyboard shortcuts.

I am a little surpised that so many people can't read my first post and see what I am talking about.

Abstract

Joe is the editor I use the most. If I need to edit something long or something which will take more than 5 seconds I will use joe. If not I will use vi[m].

I like that. hehe Powerful stuff. Mine ran that command in like lighting speed, no delay at all.

I used Joe exclusively until several years ago when I was on a system that didn't have joe. I was forced to choose either vi or emacs, so I learned vi. Now, I use vi without thinking about it--I'd forgotten about joe until you mentioned it. Does joe support syntax highlighting like vi does?

I don't think it does. But I have never used vi so maybe I don't know what I am talking about.
