Well, Guild wars works pretty well with Cedega but it cost.

Then your other choice wine which is free, but I don't know if GW works in wine.

So far it havn't any rating: http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iAppId=2243 , other than bronze (which isn't good).

How does Cedega payment and everything work? Do you pay and receive a copy or do you need to pay monthly?

I read somewhere that wine doesn't have the best working for Guild Wars? Probably was an old article... Anyone tried wine?

Cedega are monthly $5 dollars each month. First time you pay is for 3 months in advance (so $15 is withdrawn).

Then the first time it costs 15$ and you have a three month support? What happens if you stop paying?

This is a link to the Cedega demo. (http://linux.softpedia.com/get/GAMES-ENTERTAINMENT/Simulation/Cedega-9843.shtml)That demo is no longer supported. I installed it, got my code and fired it up. I immediately got a message saying my trial subscription had already expired.

I emailed Cedega support and they told me they don't support the use of that trial any longer. He also said that trial is a poor test vehicle since it's a fairly old version and was likely not to run games that might now run under the newer version.

OP ~ I would just recommend spending the $15 to try it if it's that immportant. If you don't want to do that and have a Windows license you could always dual-boot. I haven't tried Cedega yet, but I'm thinking about it as I've already nuked Windows the night after the Nightfall preview event was over.

Thanks for telling me, I won't recomend that link to the demo anymore.

It did run GW fine though.

Hopefuly you don't have an ATI GPU, if you do you could be in for some trouble...

I do have an ATI right now and not a very good one. I have a Radeon X300. When I had Windows installed I could run GW at 25 - 32FPS. So if I take a performance and video hit running it in Cedega then I don't know if it will run good enough.

I'm still undecided. I am thinking of changing out my video card for an nvidia card, but I have to do research and see what is affordable but will still play games.

ATI are still a long way behind nVidia as far as Linux drivers go. I think you would find that your ATI card will dissapoint you under Linux.
