I have read through a lot of the helpfull information in this forum regarding 3D Graphics games etc.

I ran glxgears and this was the result:

6205 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1241.000 FPS
6466 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1293.200 FPS
6592 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1318.400 FPS
6577 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1315.400 FPS
6516 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1303.200 FPS
6541 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1308.200 FPS
5887 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1177.400 FPS

I assumed that this meant that my ATI radeon mobility 9000 was working correctly.
But when I run Doom3 (Demo) the graphics are awfull. The mouse curser on the menu screen is just a swaure block and all the words are small rectangular blocks.

Have I misunderstood something?
Any advice would be welcomed. Thanks

mobility 9000 isnt a *great* graphics chip, so dont expect much out of doom3. my fx5200 gets numbers like yours in glxgears, so that looks fine

what were you using to run doom3 btw?

Thanks for the reply Giturar.

I wasn't using anything special to run it. I jsut downloaded the linux demo from Front Page Doom III (http://zerowing.idsoftware.com/linux/doom/)
It was 400 something MB. Very easy to install but as I said it something is not right. Not sure if it's a poor graphics card (64mb) or if I did something wrong.

This could be a problem with DX9, I know in CS:Source I need force it to use DX 8 to run the frame rate test. Things are still screwy even with that setting.
