I'm sure I found a website which allowed me to pick on a package, give me a bit of info, and then point me at a download. Kind of like Synaptic, but on the w.w.w.(eb).

But I've lost the address. And I've searched everywhere for it on Google, without coming across anything similar.

Cann't even remember if the site was for Debian, or specifically for Ubuntu.

If anyone can post the address, many thanks,

Robert

Hi,
Do you mean this?
http://packages.ubuntu.com/
As long as your /etc/apt/sources.list is up to date and containing the extra repositories , it's definitely more handy to browse and use wether apt or Synaptic, IMHO.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Erkki

That's the one!

Many, many thanks!

Yes, I'm reasonably impressed with the whole Synaptic/Apt setup. Except...
I've only got dialup at home, but I do have broadband elsewhere. So it makes a lot of sense for me to download elsewhere, then install locally. Hence the need for a general web interface.

Thanks again (can you tell I was stumped?),

Robert.
